About Jiangxi

Jiangxi was under the states of Chu in the Spring and Autumn Period. In 733 A.D. Jiangnan Dao (an ancient administrative division) was divided into two parts, the eastern Dao and western Dao. The western Dao was called Jiangxi (west of the Yangtze River) for short, hence its name. It was named Jiangxi province in Qing Dynasty (1368-1644), which has remain ever since. The Jinggang Mountains were the first rural revolutionary base area set up by the late Chairman Mao Zedong in 1927; Nanchang, a heroic city where the " August 1st" Uprising took place in 1927, the day is regarded as the founding of People's Liberation Army (PLA); Ruijin, the site for the central work-peasant democratic government during the Second Revolutionary War; and Anyuan, one of the birthplace of the Chinese worker's movement led by Mao Zedong and Liu Shaoqi.

Education

Jiangxi is home to a great number of colleges and universities, such as Jiangxi Normal University, Nanchang University, Jiangxi Medical College, Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, Jiangxi Agriculture University and so forth.

There are 11,633 primary schools, 2,116 junior middle schools, 1,001 high schools (including vocational schools) and 96 universities and colleges.

Nanchang University

Nanchang University is a national university situated in central China in Jiangxi province in the Provincial capital of Nanchang which is south of the Yangtze River. Jiangxi is famous as the home of porcelain (china). Nanchang university has it origins way back in 1921 with the beginning of the Jiangxi Public Medical School it furthered evolved in 1940 under the National Chung-cheng University and later on in it's development Nanchang University was amalgamation of Jiangxi University and Jiangxi Industrial University into Nanchang university in 1993, in 2005 the Jiangxi Medical college merged with Nanchang university and so in the 21st century Nanchang university is continuing the tradition of tertiary education which it began way back in 1921. In 1997 Nanchang University was listed as one of the Top Key 100 hundred national universities of the 2011 Project which is a joint co-operation development project between the People's government of Jiangxi province and the central ministry of Education of the Chinese central government.

NCU has a total faculty of 4638, among which 1556(occupies approximately 45.68%) are professors and associate professors, 853 (approximately 25.58%)have Ph. D degrees, 2105(approximately 70.7%) have master or above degrees, 214 are part-time doctors of high-level domestic and overseas universities or research institutions. NCU currently has 4 Dual-Employed Academicians, 1 foreign academician, 2 recipients of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, 5 members of Yangtze Scholars Scheme, 1 member of Discipline Evaluation Group of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, 5 National Young and Middle-aged Experts with Outstanding Contributions, 1 outstanding expert selected by Ministry of Health, 1 National Prominent Teacher, 2 winners of Bethune Award, 7 members of first and second level of the National Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talents Project, 3 persons listed in the National Thousand Talents Project, 8 members of New Century Excellent Talents Support Project, 5 exclusively employed members of Jinggang Scholars Project, 88 recipients of special allowances provided by State Council and provincial government.

Scholarship

In order to promote the development of higher education of International students in Jiangxi, further improve the talent cultivation, scientific research, and cultural exchange, Jiangxi People's Government has set up the Scholarship for international students.

CATEGORIES OF APPLICANTS AND DURATION OF SCHOLARSHIP

a. Jiangxi Provincial Government Scholarship is available to all universities in Jiangxi that enroll international students.
b. This scholarship is applicable to International students, including Doctoral students, Master students, Bachelor students, and Exchange students or Short-term students (more than 6 months) who wish to study and are studying in Jiangxi. The duration of the scholarship is for 1 academic year.

VALUES OF SCHOLARSHIP

a. Class A scholarship (For Doctoral and Master students): 25,000 RMB/person/year;
b. Class B scholarship (For Bachelor students): 20,000 RMB/person/year.
c. Class c scholarship (For Exchange students or Short-term students of more than 6 months): 6,000 RMB/person/year.
